Meet the founders
Shane Ball. Bass
Shane studied in Christchurch Polytechnic's first intake of Performance Jazz students in 1991. Soon after he discovered latin jazz and joined Auckland - based Kantuta in 1992. After recording and touring the successful Pacifico album, Shane relocated to Colombia, launching a successful marketing business and raising a family in Cali, a city famous for its salsa music. Shane and his family returned to Auckland in 2013. Shane specialises in salsa, progresiva, and timba and plays 5 string Yamaha TRB basses and a classic upright Baby Bass for an authentic vintage latin soul sound.
Karl Benton. Piano, Musical Director
Karl Benton has worked in the New Zealand music industry as an educator, performer and creative for over thirty years. Karl’s broad experience in the music industry has seen him represent New Zealand as a musician many times overseas and performed and toured numerous times with iconic New Zealand artists such as Kantuta, Ardijah, Lizzie Marvelly, Che Fu, Jackie Clarke, Rikki Morris, Sir John Rowles, Annie Crummer, and many more.
Tatiana Jimenez. Lead vocal, percussion.
Native of Cartagena, Colombia, Tatiana has been living in NZ since xxxx. Tatiana packs a tremendous vocal punch and has been working with leading latin groups in Auckland such as Vivio & Friends, Banda Latina, and ke lo ke.
Latin Soul Music were amazing at my wedding. They added so much energy and good vibes, and my friends and family are still talking about it!
